Changing Stories

The official account of the 9/11 attack is notable for its many contradictions. Explanations of the events of that day as told by media and government have been revised numerous times in the days and years since the attacks. Some of the more prominent examples of the shifting explanations include:

  • The existence of three mutually contradictory accounts of the military response to the attack.
  • The retraction by demolitions expert Van Romero of his emphatic observation that the WTC collapses were demolitions.
  • Multiple explanations for the collapses of the Twin Towers.
  • The change in the mission statement of the District of Columbia Air National Guard.
  • Changes in the story from military official regarding FAA requests for assistance and the reasons not a single jet fighter intercepted any of the commandeered airliners.

Normally, when suspects in a crime investigation repeatedly change their story, it is considered strong evidence of their guilt.
